About Snohomish County Real Estate

About Snohomish County Washington
Snohomish County was given its name by the surrounding Native Tribes, and according to local lore, Snohomish means “low lying people” and is named after the Snohomish Tribe. The meaning of Snohomish County has been has been contested though it is not hard to believe as the western half of the county is at or near sea level.
Situated in the northern third of Washington State and on the westside of the Cascade Mountain Range, Snohomish County is close enough to the Seattle metro area for commuting and far enough away to have personal hideaway.
Snohomish County is Washington State’s 13th largest county in terms of square miles, 2,089.06 sq/mls, but 3rd in population terms. According the US Census Bureau, the 2009 population was 694,571 with there being 282,237 housing units (single family and multi-family units) and an average of 2.65 persons living in each household.
When discussing employers its rare to find Snohomish County not associated with The Boeing Company. Located in north Everett, The Boeing Company employs a huge local work force and that work force has help Boeing become the global aerospace leader. Also based in Everett is the United States Navy. Home to handful of ships, the USS Nimitz, and occasional nuclear submarine, Naval Station Everett has many young and seasoned active and nonactive service members all calling Snohomish County home.
