Attic Insulation – Save Heat, Save Energy, and Save Money

The cold winter is in full effect and the amount of rain fall and cold weather will definitely be felt walking out the door. The holidays are here, money is tight, and putting more green in your pocket while doing a small part for the environment.

The biggest cost homeowner’s face during the winter is heating. The cooler winter temperatures can produce higher and higher heating bills. Homeowner’s can combat this trend by taking a look at their attic’s insulation. Heat rises and the attic maybe the last place you think heat, and more importantly energy, is lost.

In a previous post, Government Tax Credits for Home Improvements, tax credits for improving a homes insulation where touched on. In 2010, why not save some green while getting in on some government green while improving your home’s thermal footprint. Here is a short video from Reid, of the The Home Detective, on a home’s attic’s insulation in his episode of “What’s Going on with this House”.

Adding attic insulation is a great way to “go green” and “save green”. Thanks for sharing this information with your site visitors. Reid’s video does a great job of showing an attic that is not properly insulated and is costing the home owner a lot of money.

This is true in any area that has cold weather and I see this during the home inspections I do in New Jersey too. I provide home inspection services in Bridgewater, NJ. I’ve met Reid at home inspector workshops and he’s a great guy and a very knowledgeable inspector.

    Thanks again,
    David Haigh

Hey David, yes Reid is a great guy and highly knowledgeable about homes. On a recent home inspection he pointed out area on a porch and property construction.

If this weather doesn’t change people will need extra insulation to keep their house cool. It is oddly warm outside.
