Maybe it is because it has been cold or not wanting to get catch cold which keeps me ordering Pho through out the week. I first discovered Pho in early 2000 through a friend. It was home made and felt refreshing and healthy at the same time.

If you have not tried it already get out and try something new. What is Pho? It is a Vietnamese noodle soup made from cooking beef bones, adding natural spices and herbs until a clear and heart warming broth develops.

Toby’s Choice: After a long day skiing, imagine that, when the body is tired and there is a chill in the core, a large bowl of Pho with meatballs with a cool glass of water.

If so then you should travel into Marysville and visit Fanny’s Restaurant east from the 199 exit. Tucked in the Cedar Plaza, Fanny’s is in great proximity to the freeway if you are coming from another Snohomish County city and great location in Marysville for local residents.

Fanny’s is great for large breakfast groups and has plenty of seating in one of its 3 rooms. The back room is the biggest and offers many table options, the middle room is the smallest but still enough seating for parties up to 6 and the front room is slightly bigger than the middle room but has mainly 4 person tables.

The menu is packed full of traditional favorites that can be found at other breakfast places but in my opinion it tastes so much better at Fanny’s: eggs any style, hash browns or Fanny Fries, toast or English muffin and coffee, juice and water all taste so good.

Toby’s Choice: Minced ham and scrambled eggs with an English muffin over a cup of coffee.

Our destination was the Diamond Knot Pub & Brewery for some good food and tasty beer.

The atmosphere was inviting and social with the layout feeling open and spacious. Tables lined the northern wall and the bar on the southern side. The eastern portion of the bar had sitting table for larger groups and parties.

Having an extensive beer list it was difficult to narrow our selection so we both opted for a sampler ranging from light lager to dark Industrial beer . Being my first time there it gave me a chance to feel out the beer selection and compare them to my other favorite Washington pubs and ale houses.

The menu was to large for me to take in so I opted for a tried and true entree, the Philly Cheesesteak. I am used to the Philly coming complete from the chef but this one was served on a cooking stone with fresh onions, green peppers and potato salad on the side.

Being prepared in this fashion gave the opportunity for us to cook the meat just the way we like while sharing some good conversation over an excellent Washingtonian microbrew. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and the Diamond Knot Pub & Brewery should be on everyone’s todo list if you are planning on visiting Mukilteo.
