Recently, I have been thinking about what the “perfect” home is. The difficulty of determining is that important features of a home vary greatly from one person or family to the next. Various locations, tastes, commuting distances, views or no views, water front or no water are just some of the factors that determine the best fit for a person and/or a family.
Is the perfect home a single family rambler in a south Marysville neighborhood? Or is it something much different? Could it be that the perfect home is a cabin just off Highway 2 near Stevens Pass?
Recently I have had the opportunity to explore the term unique with clients. The first question was: What does unique mean to this couple? Unique can encompass so many aspects of a home. The architecture could be unique, the view could be unique, and the topography could be unique.
With so many variables to consider it was imperative to make sure the term unique was clearly defined. It was easier to start on what they didn’t like and work backwards. Unique ruled out anything in a subdivision resembling a spec house and anything on a postage sized lot. After many questions and clarifications it turns out that unique is a German influenced home with a beautiful landscaping that seems to have been planned to align with the windows in a natural surrounding complete with a spike, a few does and a fawn.
For me the story would be much different. A perfect home would be a place large enough to live comfortable (even my preferences are open for interpretation), near friends and family, and is in a somewhat close proximity of a ski resort. That can encompass a wide range of cities in Snohomish County because the Cascade Mountains are right out the back door.
So my question to is: What is your perfect home like?
As everyone has different opinions, tastes and criteria it would be interesting to hear those differences. Is the perfect home the one you’re currently living or is a beach cabana in Cabo San Lucas more your style? Inquiring minds want to know.
