Navigating the Snohomish County website is daunting task in itself with endless page links and sometimes frustrating website architecture. I find myself getting sucked into pages and soon land on an intriguing yet unrelated page. The upfront design is getting better but farther into the site traveled the more it appears like web 1.0. However, the vast amount of information on Snohomish County's website makes it a valuable resource.
The other day, while researching potential changes to building rules, I came across a page containing multiple interactive Snohomish County maps. It was nerd heaven especially for someone in my field. I regularly use 2 but the other 3 were some welcomed news.
These maps work pretty good and can provide help to beginners too seasoned experts. Although, the maps could use UI updating to be more user friendly.
5 Must Use Interactive Maps
SCOPI
As a real estate broker, I cannot tell you how many times I get asked for lot line or plat map information. SCOPI, the Snohomish County Online Property Information, map provides this very service yet I don't recommend it on tables or phones. It's just to archaic for mobile technology. Either enter the Tax Parcel ID or hover over and click the 'Locate Address' text in the page's middle left. SCOPI will then render approximate property and lot lines for that particular parcel.

Permit, Planning, and Zoning Map
The Permit, Planning, and Zoning Map is just as handy as SCOPI especially if you want to know the zoning for a particular parcel. Users can zoom in to see property details along with approximate lot lines. The map is missing an easy to read zoning key yet the zoning codes are here - Zoning Matrix. Again, the map is best used on a desktop.

Drainage Inventory Map
While I never have used the Drainage Inventory Map before I did take it for a spin. In the top navigation bar there is a 'Find an Address' button which allows for easy searching so I thought. However, the address search didn't seem to work at this time and I deferred to the Tax Parcel ID. The map renders Catch Basin, Drain Points, Waterflow Directions, Cross Section and Parcel information.

Real-time Flood Warning Information
This years Spring run is about to start especially with this week's weather forecast. The Real-Time Flood Warning Map can be helpful if you live near one of Snohomish County's many waterways. Sort the map by County and USGS gauges, 100 year flood plain, radar image, 1 Hour Precipitation, and Storm Total Precipitation. There is also a legend showing the different flood phases and other pertinent data. I don't know if the site works on mobile devises but click the image and let us know.

Road Closure Map
Knowing road closures isn't always make the local news so visit the Road Closure Map for instant road closure information. I really like this map. Why? There is a link to see the road closures using Google Maps and Google Maps makes me happy.

These 5 maps will serve anyone well looking for land, checking zoning, know where existing drainage is, and knowing if the morning commute is faced with road closures. Hope you find as much use for them as I have.
